I LOVE THE EAGERNESS AND WARMTH OF FIRST GRADERS! THEIR CURIOSITY ABOUT THE WORLD IS A SPRINGBOARD FOR TEACHING THEM TO LEARN HOW TO READ BOOKS AND UNDERSTAND THE MAGIC OF NUMBERS! IN A POSITIVE WAY, I TRY TO MOTIVATE MY STUDENTS TO FEEL GREAT ABOUT LEARNING NEW THINGS AND ABOUT THEMSELVES! WE ARE A CLASSROOM COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS WHO SHINE TOGETHER LIKE THE COLORS OF A RAINBOW. WE EACH HAVE OUR OWN UNIQUE QUALITIES LIKE EACH COLOR IN THE RAINBOW. WE SHARE OUR STRENGTHS AND TALENTS TO HELP EACH OTHER LEARN. WE ARE A RAINBOW OF FRIENDS!
PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION: I SEEK TO NURTURE , EXPAND AND CHALLENGE THE WHOLE CHILD. I BELIEVE THAT EACH CHILD IS UNIQUE IN THEIR TALENTS, OUTLOOK AND BACKGROUND. I BELIEVE THAT THE ROLE OF THE TEACHER IS TO MOTIVATE THEIR STUDENTS TO WANT TO LEARN BY ENGAGING THEIR CURIOSITY ABOUT THE WORLD AND ITS WONDERS. I FEEL THAT EACH CHILD HAS AN INNATE DESIRE TO LEARN THINGS, ACHIEVE HIGHER LEVELS OF SKILLS AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THEIR PLACE ON THIS PLANET. I STRIVE TO FOSTER GOOD CHARACTER IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT, DEVELOPING RESPECT FOR ALL LIFE, RESPONSIBILITY AND RESOURCEFULNESS . I ENDEAVOR TO SUPPORT AND DIRECT EACH STUDENT TO GROW ACADEMICALLY AND DEVELOP THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL. WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER IN A COHESIVE, SAFE AND ENTHUSIASTIC CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT. TEACHING STYLE: I USE STRUCTURE AND FIRMNESS TO LAY A BASIC POSITIVE FOUNDATION TO BE A GOOD CITIZEN AT SCHOOL. I USE PRAISE AND MOTIVATION TO HAVE STUDENTS DO THEIR BEST JOB! I USE MODELING AND SUPPORT TO HELP STUDENTS WITH NEW CURRICULUM, ALONG WITH MUCH POSITIVE FEEDBACK. I AM A CREATIVE AND IMAGINATIVE TEACHER. I BRING SUBJECTS TO LIFE USING PUPPETS , STORYTELLING AND THINGS FROM NATURE. I USE A CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR CLIP UP [OR DOWN] CHART FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL STUDENT, TEAM POINTS FOR TABLE GROUPS AND A MARBLE BUCKET FOR WHOLE CLASS COOPERATION AND EFFORT.
